Exam Details
This course is designed to build participants’ understanding of key concepts and domains covered in the Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems (CAHIMS®) certification.
To qualify for the CAHIMS® exam, participants must meet one of the following eligibility paths:
- Pathway 1: Hold a high school diploma or equivalent, and either 45 hours of continuing education or 150 hours of experience in IT and healthcare roles.
- Pathway 2: Hold an associate degree or higher from an accredited institution, and either 25 hours of continuing education or 75 hours of IT and healthcare experience.
The exam consists of 115 multiple-choice questions (100 scored) and must be completed within two hours. It is administered at Pearson VUE Testing Centres.
All candidates must apply to sit for the exam. Once approved, they will receive an eligibility ID to schedule their exam slot.
To maintain certification, participants must renew every three years through either:
- Passing the CAHIMS® exam again
- Completing 45 continuing education (CE) hours, including at least 25 from HIMSS or HIMSS-approved providers and two hours on ethics or conflicts of interest
To maximise success, participants are strongly encouraged to complement the course with additional self-study, revision of course materials, and dedicated practice before attempting the exam.
